SOMERS POINT, NJ — A new Target is preparing to open its doors in Somers Point next month. A sign outside the store invites people to start shopping on Sunday, Oct. 24.
The 100,000-square-foot store on New Road is located about 15 minutes closer to Ocean City than the next nearest Target in Mays Landing.
Target has taken the place of the former Kmart in the Somers Point Plaza. The building has been vacant since December 2019.

The store's closure left a void in the Somers Point Plaza, a strip mall which also includes PetSmart, Big Lots and ACME Markets. The plaza features more than 25 stores.
Target is currently hiring for a variety of positions at its Somers Point store.
