Teen BMXer From Ocean City Raises $250K To Fight Cancer
Ryland Bricker's "Race for Life" campaign supports The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society through BMX and community fundraising.

At just 13, Ryland Bricker has accomplished what most adults never attempt — raising a quarter of a million dollars for cancer research. The Ocean City student and BMX rider recently hit a major milestone in his long-running “Race for Life” campaign, benefiting The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
What began as a small fundraiser six years ago has grown into a full-fledged movement, backed by local businesses, family support and Ryland’s own determination to make a difference. His efforts earned a $2,500 Good Neighbor Grant from the USA BMX Foundation, which helped further his campaign and spread awareness about childhood cancer.
Ryland’s approach to fundraising goes beyond asking for donations — he’s been known to give up birthday and holiday gifts in exchange for contributions and has spent years collecting funds outside local stores in his BMX gear. With his dad, Nick Bricker, by his side, Ryland has turned a personal passion into a powerful force for good. Read more Ryland and Nick at Shore Local.
The impact has rippled through the community, inspiring others to get involved and support a cause that has already helped hundreds of families.
