The Week in Ocean City Events: Freckle Contest to Fashion Show

A full slate of entertainment options in Ocean City this week.

Ocean City is gearing up for its annual Night in Venice celebration on July 20, but that doesn't mean there's a lack of events in the interim. Here's a look at some of the highlights:

 

Thursday, July 11

FRECKLE CONTEST: Show off your real or painted on freckles. Registration 6 p.m. in front of Music Pier, Boardwalk and Moorlyn Terrace, contest 6:30 p.m. Call (609) 525-9300 for information.

WINNIE THE POOH: Presented by the Greater Ocean City Theatre Co. about the loveable bear whose intentions are always the best but whose passion for honey and condensed milk keeps getting him into trouble. Sunday, July 14

NOR’EASTERS SOCCER TEAM: The Ocean City amateurs play Reading United, 7 p.m. Kick Off at Carey Stadium, 6th St. off Boardwalk, $10 adult, $7 youth. Prior to game Nor’easters 23s team will host the Philadelphia Fury in a 4 p.m.  Kick-Off. Come early and enjoy two great games for the price of one. Super car show at 5 p.m.  Cars will cruise around track at halftime.  Call (609) 525-9999.

JACK AND THE BEANSTALK: Presented by the Greater Ocean City Theatre Co. Take a musical trip up the beanstalk with Jack and discover the town’s unexpected solution to the Giant’s grumpy attitude!  At the Music Pier, Boardwalk and Moorlyn Terr., 10:30 a.m. All tickets $10. JARS OF CLAY: A Christian Rock group from Nashville offers a blend of alternative rock, folk, acoustic and R&B. Wednesday, July 17

OCEAN CITY POPS RISING ARTISTS OF TOMORROW: 8 p.m. at the Music Pier. Hear dynamic singers Kara Mulder, Jarrett Porter and Kameron Ghanavati, plus violin prodigy Brenden Zak. Maestro Scheible conducts. Sponsored by Oves Restaurant. Tickets $15/$10 at Pier Box Office, (609) 525-9248.

SOUNDS OF HOLLYWOOD: Presented by the Greater Ocean City Theatre Co. Relive the memories from some of the Cinema’s most iconic musical moments during this high energy song and dance revue. 7:30 p.m. at the Moorlyn Family Theatre, Moorlyn Terrace and Boardwalk. $15 general admission, $12 for senior and children under 12. BETSY YOUNG MEMORIAL FUND FASHION SHOW: At 6:30 p.m. at the Ocean City Community Center. Dessert Reception 7:15 p.m. The show will feature clothing from local businesses. Tickets are $15 at the door.
