Video Tells History of Ocean City Carousel That Traveled West
The merry-go-round featured at Gillian's Fun Deck from 1929 to 1987 is now entertaining visitors in Buffalo, Wyoming.
A merry-go-round that entertained generations of Ocean City visitors at Gillian's Fun Deck (now Gillian's Island Water Park) from 1929 to 1987 is the focus of a video promoting its new home: the Cowboy Carousel Center in Buffalo, Wyoming.Â
The merry-go-round was auctioned when the water park replaced the Fun Deck in 1988, and it ultimately landed in the Bighorn Mountains region of eastern Wyoming, where it will be the centerpiece of a new community event center.
In a story about the carousel, the Cowboy Carousel Center solicited photographs from Ocean City Patch readers for use in the video. Richard Concepcion was among those able to email some, and they made the final cut.
