Waterspout Spotted Off The Coast Of Ocean City
Photos and videos on social media showed the waterspout twisting and touching the ocean just off the coast of Ocean City.
OCEAN CITY, NJ — A waterspout formed off the coast of Ocean City Sunday evening, according to social media reports.
Multiple people shared photos and videos of the apparent waterspout that formed just before 6 p.m. on Sept. 10.
A video shared by meteorologist Nor'Easter Nick shows the waterspout off 36th Street Beach churning and touching the surface of the ocean, lifting up water.

Another photo posted in the public Facebook group Ocean City NJ 08226 shows the waterspout over houses.
Waterspouts are tornados that form over water, according to the National Weather Service. They share the same characteristics as land tornados.
