Weather Service Warns of Severe Thunderstorms in Ocean City

The warning extends through 2:45 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 13.

A line of severe thunderstorms is moving across southern New Jersey on Tuesday morning (Aug. 13), and the National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning in effect for the region through 2:45 p.m.

Thunderstorms are expected to dump as much as 3 inches of rain on certain areas.

The warning means that flooding is "imminent or occurring" and urges residents leaving near streams and creeks to move to higher ground immediately. Ocean City is typically affected to a greater degree by tidal flooding, and high tide on the bay side of Ocean City at Ninth Street is 1:33 p.m.

NWS forecasters also warned that some storms could bring destructive winds as strong as 60 mph.
