50,000-Square-Foot Amazon Fresh Opens In Paramus

Amazon has opened an Amazon Fresh grocery store in Paramus, ahead of opening another in Lodi at a date yet to be announced.

PARAMUS, NJ — A 50,000-square-foot Amazon Fresh grocery store opened Thursday in a space previously occupied by Fairway Market in Paramus, an Amazon spokesperson said.

"Always excited to see a new store open in town," Paramus Mayor Richard La Barbiera said in a statement. "In addition to many jobs, Amazon is bringing a unique shopping experience that will compliment our retail community."

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held at 6:45 a.m., and the store opened at 7 a.m. on 30 East Ridgewood Avenue, the spokesperson said.

"We’re excited to begin serving Paramus and to welcome customers into our doors today," Amazon Fresh District Manager Emad El-Mubasher said. "I’m proud that this store has created hundreds of good jobs with benefits locally."

Amazon Fresh stores offer Just Walk Out technology, which offers shoppers "the option to skip the checkout line," if they scan a code or use a credit or debit card.

Amazon is opening another Amazon Fresh supermarket in the Memorial Drive district in Lodi, though an exact date has not yet been set.
