Fallen Soldier From Bergen Remembered With Yellow Ribbons
Sgt. David Solinas, Jr., an Oradell native, died last week in a helicopter crash during a U.S. Army training exercise, Patch reported.
BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — New Jersey will never forget Sgt. David Solinas, Jr.
Bergen County is tying yellow ribbons to structures in remembrance of fallen soldier and Oradell native Solinas, who died in a helicopter crash during a U.S. Army training exercise last week.
"We also remember the eight other lives that were taken far too soon and owe them a debt of gratitude for their service to this country which resulted in the ultimate sacrifice," Oradell Mayor Dianne Camelo Didio said on Facebook.

Solinas, 23, died when two Black Hawk helicopters went down Wednesday during a training mission near Kentucky's Fort Campbell, Patch reported.
A man of "deep faith and compassion," Solinas gave much to his community and his country, a flyer for the yellow ribbon campaign said of the soldier.

Businesses and residents were asked to tie yellow ribbons — symbols of support for America's armed forces — around trees, posts, doors or other structures to celebrate the life of Solinas.
And in a step further, the community is showing support for Solinas through a Meal Train, pledging to cook and deliver meals to his family through the end of May.
"The Solinas family (is) very touched and beyond grateful for the outpouring of support and love," the Meal Train organizer said in an update Saturday.
