Mental Health Nonprofit To Host Free Virtual Summer Workshops

Care Plus New Jersey is offering free community education workshops throughout the summer, and registration is now open.

PARAMUS, NJ — For the second consecutive year, Care Plus New Jersey, a Paramus nonprofit that provides integrated primary care and mental health services, is offering free community education workshops that will take place once a month throughout the summer, a news release from the nonprofit said on June 23.

“We are thrilled to continue these efforts, which will help us remain connected with our community and work together to provide resources and unpack important issues," Caitlyn Yerves, Senior Director of Marketing and Community Relations, said in the news release. "Experts will be exploring a range of engaging topics over the next few months suited not only to mental health professionals but the community as a whole and we hope those interested will join us for these informative sessions.”

In recognition of Pride Month, the first workshop, "Solidarity with PRIDE," will take place at noon on June 29. Case manager Monica Goffan will host the session, which will discuss and review topics related to LGBTQ terminology and mental health issues that affect the community.

The second session, "Handling Our Students With Care: From Responding to ACE Alerts to Building a Support Team," will take place at noon on July 20. Program Manager and Crisis and Trauma Specialist Ashley Morolla will host the workshop, which will cover the state's "Handle With Care" directive on the police response when a child is exposed to a traumatic event, and what it means for school districts.

Rounding out the series is the third workshop, "Keep Your Cool: Mind-Body Practices," which will be facilitated by marketing director Yerves at noon on Aug. 17. The session will review mind-body practices that can develop balance, harmony and wellbeing; and include movement and meditation.
