Paramus Establishes Veterans Affairs Office

Borough will launch a veterans affairs website and unveil the new office this spring.

The borough is launching some new efforts to meet the needs of its veterans.

Paramus has established a Veterans Affairs Office which will be led by Sam Cassiello, a former councilman, who has volunteered to take on this position.

Veterans Affairs will have an office housed in the senior center building. The new office is set to open in May and there's hopes to have an official grand opening as part of the borough's Memorial Day festivities this year.

A website is also being developed and is expected to be completed soon, officials said.

The office will serve as an information and resource center for veterans in town where they can access programs and services, explained Mayor Richard LaBarbiera. "It can be overwhelming. A lot of our veterans may not even know what's available to them," said LaBarbiera.

He hopes this program will take off and credits Casiello for bringing this idea to his attention and for stepping up and taking on such as active role.

Casiello said at the council meeting last week he is happy to serve in this role and believes it will be a benefit to the veterans in Paramus.
