Paramus Overnight Parking Permit Talks Continue This Week
Taking a look at what it is to come on Patch this week.

The issue of overnight parking may be tackled more this week as Paramus governing officials are likely to continue talks when they convene at the Tuesday work session meeting.
For the past several weeks there has been much discussion regarding the borough's plans to consider allowing those who meet certain qualifications to be issued a permit in order to keep their cars out overnight. A fee would be attached to the permit.
There has been a lot of opposition to the idea coming from residents. Mayor Richard LaBarbiera tells Patch that based on feedback received the majority of people want to maintain the integrity of the neighborhoods by not allowing any overnight parking.

It's something "people are accustomed to and the borough does not want to compromise that," he said. At the same time, LaBarbiera says there is a small percentage of about 5 to 10 percent of residents who are in need of parking, having outgrown their driveways.
"I think we should listen and try to accomodate their needs," said LaBarbiera.
