Paramus Physician Raises Awareness, Donations for Malala Fund

Dr. David Cohen of Cohen Vein Care in Paramus is running ads offering to match the first $2,500 in donations from the community.

Press release:

Like many, Dr. David Cohen of Cohen Vein Care in Paramus and his family are inspired by the story of 2014 Nobel Peace Prize winner, Malala Yousafzai, the 16-year-old Pakistani girl who stood up to a Taliban assassination attempt to take a powerful stand for the education of girls around the world.

“The Malala Fund is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to supporting programs that provide millions of girls around the world a voice, an advocate and an education,” says Dr. Cohen. “Malala and her organization are taking a heroic stand to help fight oppression all over the world and I’m doing as much as I can to help support this noble cause.”

Although Giving Tuesday has come and gone, Dr. Cohen has been encouraging his friends and patients to join in supporting the Malala Fund. Hoping to get more people involved through small donations, he’s also running ads offering to match the first $2,500 in donations from the community. If 100 people contribute $25 each, together that becomes a $5,000 contribution, or more.

The Malala Fund has already made a difference in Malala’s hometown in Pakistan’s Swat Valley and more resources are needed to help:

  • Girls in refugee camps in Jordan.
  • Girls who were kidnapped and denied education in Nigeria.
  • Girls exploited all over the world for human trafficking.
