Fair Lawn Teen Charged with Drug Possession at Paramus Wendy’s

A Paramus police officer arrested an 18-year old Fair Lawn man on drug charges after spotting him and a female minor in a parked vehicle at the Rt. 4 Wendy's parking lot. Police say the vehicle had "the odor of burned marijuana" emanating from it.

An 18-year old Fair Lawn man was arrested on drug charges after a Paramus police officer smelled the scent of burning marijuana while checking on the occupants, one of whom was identified as a minor, in a parked vehicle at the Route 4 Wendy’s parking lot early Wednesday, police said.

According to a statement from the , at about 2:42 a.m. Wednesday, Officer Dmitry Mazur approached a parked vehicle in the Wendy’s lot to see if the occupants were in need of assistance. Upon speaking with the driver, the officer detected the odor of burned marijuana emanating from the vehicle, police said.  

Investigation revealed that the teen was in possession of a quantity of marijuana and was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, according to the statement.

The 16-year old female, also from Fair Lawn, was not charged and was later released to her parents. Araya has since been released, police said.
