Squirrel Cuts Power to 1,100 Sunday

PSE&G says animal knocked down power line for residents living near the intersection of Forest Avenue and Soldier Hill Road in Paramus.

 

Public Service Electric & Gas officials are blaming a squirrel for knocking out power to approximately 1,100 customers Sunday morning at the intersection of Forest Avenue and Soldier Hill Road in Paramus, officials said.

Rena Esposito, a PSE&G spokesperson, said the squirrel caused the outage when it knocked down utility wires in the area around 10:20 a.m.

Paramus police said Forest Avenue was closed in both directions as a result of the incident. Oradell police directed traffic in the area, while PSE&G made the repairs.

Esposito said power was restored to the area at 11:20 a.m.
