Updated: Tow Truck, Car Slam Against Route 4 West Divider; Road Now Reopened

Traffic had been shut down since roughly 5:30 p.m.; road reopened as of 8:00 p.m.

Route 4 West was closed for hours after a motor vehicle accident led to injuries shortly before 5:30 p.m., Paramus Police have confirmed.

Police could not immediately provide more information, but an All-Points Towing truck and a newer-model Lexus SUV were crunched against the divider in front of the Jack Daniels Audi Auto Dealership at 123 Route 4 West. Both vehicles appeared to have sustained major front-end damage. Three cars were involved in the accident with three victims reportedly treated for injuries.

Interestingly, another tow truck from All Points Towing was dispatched to the scene to tow one of the vehicles involved in the accident.

Police had cordoned off the scene with yellow police tape and all traffic west-bound was diverted to the U-turn ramp near the Garden State Parkway entrance as well as the Parkway itself. Local roads and Route 17 South screeched to a halt for hours before the highway reopened shortly before 8:00 p.m.
