39 Crashes In 1 Morning, Schools Closed Amid Icy Parsippany Roads
It was a busy morning for Parsippany first responders, who responded to 39 crashes in four hours.

PARSIPPANY, NJ — Schools closed and numerous accidents took place amid icy roadways Wednesday morning in Parsippany.
First responders responded to dozens of crash calls Wednesday morning, including 20 from 7-7:45 a.m. Parsippany officials responded to 39 crashes from 7-11 a.m., Sgt. Brian Conover told Patch.

A crash on Route 10 in Hanover closed four eastbound lanes by Ridgedale Avenue — the intersection that leads into the Wegmans Plaza — at 7:47 a.m. Wednesday. Only one of the five lanes was closed as of noon amid emergency repairs, state officials said.
While many districts delayed the start of school Wednesday, Parsippany-Troy Hills Township Schools closed entirely.

"The roads are extremely slick and we are currently responding to numerous accidents around town," Parsippany police said. "Please use extreme caution if you're heading out this morning. If possible please refrain from driving until later this morning after the roads can be treated."
A winter weather advisory for Parsippany and surrounding areas remained in place until noon Wednesday. Here's the National Weather Service's forecast as of 11 a.m.:
- Wednesday: A chance of rain, mainly before 2pm. Cloudy, with a high near 43. Calm wind becoming west around 5 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
- Wednesday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 30. West wind around 5 mph becoming calm.
- Thursday: Partly sunny, with a high near 38. West wind 5 to 10 mph.
