Burglary Suspects Arrested After Parsippany Manhunt
A perimeter was set up across the township as police searched for the suspects.
PARSIPPANY, NJ — Two people have been arrested after a burglary call ended in a town-wide manhunt, according to the Parsippany Police Department.
On Sept. 19, around 8:30 p.m., officers were called to a Parsippany residence on Iron Forge Road after homeowners saw two people had broken into the house on surveillance cameras.
When officers arrived, they saw two people running away around the back of the house, hopping a fence. Police attempted to chase the suspects, but lost sight of them.

With assistance from neighboring law enforcement, the Parsippany police established a perimeter, and a manhunt for the suspects ensued. Authorities also issued a description of the suspects to residents.
Not long after the perimeter was set up, a Hanover Township police officer pulled over the suspects’ vehicle.

Police arrested the driver, 26-year-old Laura Tarquino Prieto, from East Orange, and the passenger, 27-year-old Fredy Beltran-Ortiz, from Queens, NY.
Beltran-Ortiz was charged with residential burglary, conspiracy to commit burglary, eluding arrest, and possession of burglary tools.
Prieto was charged with conspiracy to commit burglary, hindering, and possession of burglary tools.
Beltran-Ortiz remains in the Morris County Correctional Facility, and Prieto was released on her own recognizance.
A Parsippany police spokesperson said that one of the burglary suspects had escaped. The investigation remains ongoing.
