Celebrate Diwali At The Parsippany Library
Food, performances, and more are expected for the Hindu celebration.
PARSIPPANY, NJ — The Parsippany Library is once again hosting a special Diwali celebration, and
The celebration is slated for Oct. 11 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the main library, 449 Halsey Road. The free event will feature music, dancing, art, food, and “fun for the whole family.”
Diwali, officially celebrated on Oct. 20, is a Hindu holiday also known as the Festival of Lights. Variations of the holiday are celebrated in several South Asian religions, as it symbolizes the “victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance.”

The library’s event will feature a meditation session, henna tattooing, arts and crafts, a dance party, a Bollywood film screening, a photo booth, and more.
Food will be provided by Tommy Scoops Ice Cream and Bhimas Indian Food Truck.

A special Bharatanatyam performance from Thillai Dance Fine Arts will also be held. The nonprofit uses the classical art form to build self-confidence and self-esteem in young students and women.
“Experience cultural performances, creative activities, and delicious food as we honor the joy and traditions of Diwali together,” a library statement read. “Bring your family and friends for this festive day of community, creativity, and light!”
Be sure to arrive early, as the event is capped at 500 people, and some features are capped at 200 people.
