Commercial Truck Driver Seriously Hurt After Rear-Ending Semi On I-80: State Police

ROXBURY, NJ — A commercial truck driver was seriously injured Friday morning after rear-ending a semi truck along Route 80 in Roxbury Township, officials said.
The collision happened not far from the construction area where crews are working to repair several major sinkholes that have been affecting traffic for weeks.
According to New Jersey State Police, the Mitsubishi truck and Kenworth tractor-trailer were both eastbound on the highway near milepost 32.4. At around 9:17 a.m., the Mitsubishi ran into the back of the larger truck, officials said.

First responders transported the driver, a 36-year-old man from Stroudsburg, Pa., to an area hospital with serious injuries. State Police said no other injuries were reported, and the crash remains under investigation.
All lanes of I-80 eastbound have reopened in the area of the crash.

There was also a serious chain-reaction crash last Friday morning on I-80 westbound near Exit 35 for Mount Hope Avenue in Rockaway, involving a tractor-trailer and a dump truck. Two men were severely injured in the collision.
