Democrat Pulls Ahead In Parsippany Election: Unofficial Results

The vote tally remains unofficial as it may not include early voting, vote-by-mail, provisional ballots, or write-in votes.

PARSIPPANY, NJ — Election night was more than a week ago, but it's still a tight race in the 2023 unofficial General Election votes for Parsippany-Troy Hills Township Council, according to unofficial results.

Although initial numbers had Republicans Paul Carifi Jr., Adam Kandil and Matt McGrath in the lead, recent poll numbers show that Democrat Judy Hernandez has now pulled ahead by a single vote.

Here are the latest unofficial numbers from the clerk, last updated at 3:10 p.m. on Nov. 15. Note that these numbers will remain unofficial until certified by the clerk.

Township Council:

  • Judy Hernandez: 4,528
  • Bernard Clarkin: 4,390
  • Matt Kavanagh: 4,438
  • Paul Carifi, Jr: 4,642
  • Adam Kandil: 4,527
  • Matthew McGrath: 4,568

With two incumbents departing in this year's elections, the current town council will be shaken up. Carifi Jr. was the sole re-election contender, with long-time councilman Michael dePierro and council president Loretta Gragnani stepping down.
