Drugs, Theft, Forgery: Parsippany Police Blotter

PARSIPPANY, NJ — Parsippany police investigated multiple incidents and made several arrests between Aug. 17 and Aug. 20, including for drugs. Read about those police activities here, as written by police:
8/17/18 at 1:03 p.m., 3035 Route 46—Bank of America: Patrols responded to the Bank of America for a reported fraudulent check. Upon their arrival, officers spoke to the bank manager and Dayana Hernandez, a 22 year old female from Miami, Florida.
After a brief investigation, it was determined that Ms. Hernandez was attempting to cash a forged check. She was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters. While at police headquarters she was also found to be in possession of suspected cocaine. She was charged with the following on a complaint-summons:

- 1 count of 3rd Degree Possession of CDS (Cocaine)
- 1 count of 3rd Degree Forgery
- 1 count of 4th Degree Forgery
- 1 count of 3rd Degree Criminal Attempt of Theft by Deception
Ms. Hernandez was released on her own recognizance pending her court date.
8/18/18 at 4:33 a.m., 498 North Beverwyck Road—T-Mobile Store: Officers responded to an activated commercial burglar alarm. While in route to the building they were advised the alarm was coming from the front plate glass window. Upon their arrival they found the 6 ft. by 12 ft. plate glass window shattered, as well as damage to the front door. After a search of the area, officers found multiple cellphones stolen from inside the building. Detectives from the Parsippany Investigative Division, along with the Morris County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit responded to the scene to assist in the investigation. 8/19/18 at 7:23 a.m., 80 New Road: Patrol Officer R. Appel was patrolling the area of 80 New Road when he observed a 2017 Honda Civic sitting on 2 cinder blocks and all four tires and rims removed. He made contact with the owner who stated the last time they saw the vehicle was on 8/18 at 6 PM and the tires and rims were still on the vehicle. The estimated cost of the tires and rims is $2,100.00. This incident remains under investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact the Parsippany Police Department’s Investigative Division at 973-263-4311.
8/19/18 at 12:19 p.m., 909 Parsippany Boulevard—Embassy Suites: Patrol Officers E. Ebanks and E. Elston responded to Embassy Suites for a stolen 2016 Hyundai Sonata. The victim advised that he parked his vehicle early in the morning on 8/19 and was unable to locate it in the parking lot when he wanted to leave the hotel. 8/20/18 at 12:29 a.m., Route 46 West: Patrol Officer J. Garza observed a 2008 Toyota Camry fail to maintain its lane and conducted a motor vehicle stop in the area of 1072 Route 46. Officer Garza and R. Taylor made contact with the occupants of the vehicle. After a brief investigation the driver, Nicolas Bernardo, a 19 year old male from Rockaway, NJ, along with his passengers Samantha Arnhold, a 21 year old female from Denville, NJ and Volodymyr Shust, a 25 year old male from Pine Brook, NJ were all placed under arrest. They were all transported back to police headquarters for processing. While there, they were charged with the following:
Nicolas Bernardo-
- 1 count of 3rd Degree Possession of CDS (Cocaine)
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a Disorderly Persons Offense
- Failure to Observe Traffic Lanes (Traffic Offense)
- Failure to Exhibit Documents (Traffic Offense)
- Possession of CDS in a Motor Vehicle (Traffic Offense)
Volodymyr Shust-
- 1 count of 3rd Degree Possession of CDS (Cocaine)
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a Disorderly Persons Offense
- Hindering, a Disorderly Persons Offense
Samantha Arnhold-
- 1 count of 3rd Degree Possession of CDS (Cocaine)
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a Disorderly Persons Offense
All three individuals were transported to the Morris County Correctional Facility pending court.
