Duo Nabbed With Kilo of Cocaine Worth $36K in Parsippany Traffic Stop: Prosecutor

Authorities intercept drugs on Route 46, police report.

Two New York residents have been arrested for drug trafficking after Parsippany police uncovered a kilogram of cocaine in a vehicle on Route 46 Monday, Morris County Prosecutor Fredric Knapp said.

Parsippany police received information that a group of individuals were importing illegal narcotics into Morris County from New York state, Knapp said.

Authorities stopped the vehicle being driven on Route 46 with Juan Liranzo, 31, of Bayside, New York and Lia Cespedes, 26, of Forest Hills, New York inside, and found more than a kilogram of cocaine with a street value of $36,000, Knapp said.

The drugs were allegedly hidden inside a “trap,” or concealed compartment in the vehicle, Knapp said. The vehicle was also seized, Knapp said.

Both Liranzo and Cespedes were charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance with the intent to distribute; conspiracy to possess a controlled dangerous substance with the intent to distribute; and possession of a controlled dangerous substance.

Both were lodged on $250,000 bail with no 10-percent option each and lodged in the Morris County Correctional Facility.
