DWI Checkpoints Announced In Morris Co.: See When And Where
DWI checkpoints are funded by the New Jersey Division of Highway Traffic Safety.
PARSIPPANY, NJ —A Driving While Intoxicated checkpoint will be put in place this weekend in Morris County.
According to the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office, DWI checkpoints will be placed in Parsippany-Troy Hills on Sept. 6 and 7.
“DWI checkpoints are funded by grants received by the Prosecutor’s Office from the New Jersey Division of Highway Traffic Safety to conduct checkpoints in conjunction with municipal police departments throughout Morris County,” a county statement read. “The Morris County Prosecutor’s Office has coordinated sobriety checks in the past throughout various municipalities in Morris County, and intends to continue to do so in the future with advance public notice.”

According to Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), DWI checkpoints can reduce alcohol-related crashes and fatalities by 18 to 24 percent. MADD research also shows that for every dollar invested in checkpoints, communities save between $6 and $23 in costs from alcohol-related crashes.
