Injured Raccoon Rescued By Parsippany Firefighters
Firefighters were called to a delicate rescue last month after an injured raccoon became stuck on a utility pole.
PARSIPPANY, NJ — A Morris County fire department responded to an unexpected animal rescue this past month, one that was far from your typical cat-in-a-tree situation.
On April 16, the Parsippany District 5 Fire Department was contacted by Parsippany Animal Control and Shelter after a raccoon was found stuck at the top of a utility pole in town.
Officials said the raccoon, which had been stranded for some time, appeared to be injured.

According to the fire department, Deputy 5 and Ladder 5 quickly responded to the scene after JCP&L arrived to disconnect power in the area. Once power was secured, a firefighter was able to safely rescue the raccoon without further injury.
Once safely on the ground, the raccoon was handed over to Parsippany Animal Control, who ensured it received the necessary care.
