Flood Alert, Freezing Rain Expected in Parsippany
The township suggests residents use the upcoming weather to test out their sump pump.

With Freezing Rain advisory for the area Friday night andย a flood watch going into effect on Saturday at 11 a.m., the township of Parsippany-Troy Hills is suggesting residents take thisย opportunity to test out their pumps
Mayor Jamie Barberio and Chief of Police Paul Philipps announced Friday evening that โnow would be a great time to test the sump pump. A flood watch goes into effectย tomorrow at 11 a.m. and will more than likely be extended intoย tomorrowย night.โ
They added that the township is โexpecting two inches of rain on top of snow, on top of saturated thawing ground. We may have road-flooding issues in areas that are prone to flooding during periods of heavy rain โsuch as Rt. 46 between Baldwin Rd. and N. Beverwyck Rd.โ Always remember to never attempt to drive through a flooded roadway. Majorย ... river flooding is not predicted at this time,โ according to Barberio and Philippsโ alert.ย

The National Weather Service issued a flood watch and a link to monitor the level of the Rockaway River in real time along with predictions of the river level in the near future.ย
