Former Parsippany Mayor Mimi Letts Dead At 80

PARSIPPANY, NJ — Former Parsippany mayor Marceil "Mimi" Letts died on Monday. She was 80.

Letts served as mayor between 1994 and 2006. All Parsippany flags will be flown at half-mast this week in remembrance, current Mayor Michael Soriano said.

"I have ordered all flags in the township to fly at half-mast for the remainder of the week in honor of our beloved and departed Mayor. You will always be in our hearts Mimi Letts," Soriano said.

Letts, a Democrat, was elected in a special election following the court-ordered removal of Frank Priore, who had been found guilty of 20 counts of corruption, New Jersey Globe reported.

She was also active in the Parsippany Kiwanis alongside her husband, Howard, after leaving the Mayor's office. The couple was married for more than 50 years.
