Artillery Shell Prompts Major Police Presence At Parsippany Hotel
The 155mm artillery shell was located on a drain near the hotel, police said.

PARSIPPANY, NJ — The discovery of an artillery shell prompted a major law enforcement response near Parsippany's Holiday Inn Thursday morning, police said.
Just before 8:30 a.m., Parsippany police received a report of a 155mm artillery shell located on a drain at 707 Route 46, the Holiday Inn.

Dozens of police officers, including the Morris County Sheriff's Bomb Squad, responded to the area. Fire and EMS personnel also responded.
First responders evacuated the area, including a part of the hotel, according to authorities.

The Morris County Sheriff's Bomb Squad inspected the explosive and discovered it to be inert.
Once it was determined that there was no threat to the public, authorities removed the device and left the area, police said.
