High winds and heavy rain hit Morris County overnight from Tuesday to Wednesday. See how much rain fell:

MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — The Tuesday night storm soaked sections of Morris County, and there is more in store for this coming weekend.

Here is a roundup of rainfall totals reported Wednesday morning around Morris County, according to reports by the Community Collaborative Rain, Hail and Snow Network, known as CoCoRaHS.

  • Mount Olive Township: 3.28 inches
  • Madison: 2.76 inches
  • Chester Township: 2.90 inches
  • Chatham: 3.18 inches
  • Morris Township: 3.22 inches
  • Morristown: 2.58 inches
  • Mendham: 3.25 inches
  • Jefferson Township: 3.48 inches
  • Randolph Township: 3.84 inches

While recovery is underway from the storm that affected our region last night, another storm is gearing up to affect our area Friday night through Saturday.

"Widespread flooding is occurring, and flooding will slow to recede through the week. Gusty winds will develop later today, and a Wind Advisory is underway for today. New rainfall Friday night through Saturday morning will exacerbate any flooding that would be ongoing, and new flooding is possible. Strong to potentially damaging winds will develop yet again Friday night," the National Weather Service said.

Several rivers experiencing moderate to major flooding, especially across northern New Jersey, will remain in flood stage through the end of the week.

According to forecasters, three rivers in North Jersey are expected to hit the "major flood level" stage, including one in Morris County. The Passaic River at Pine Brook is anticipated to hit the major flood stage and rise to 21.4 feet by Thursday.

The Pompton River at Pompton Plains is currently at 20.38 feet, indicating it is at the major flood stage on Wednesday.

Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 44. Southwest wind 10 to 15 mph.

Thursday Night: Mostly clear, with a low of around 31. West wind 5 to 10 mph.

Friday: A slight chance of rain after 4 p.m. Increasing clouds, with a high near 44. Light and variable wind becoming southeast at 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon. The chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

Friday Night: Rain before 1 a.m., then rain and possibly a thunderstorm between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m., then rain after 4 a.m. Low around 39. Breezy, with an east wind 10 to 15 mph increasing to 20 to 25 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 45 mph. The chance of precipitation is 100 percent. New rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.

Saturday: A slight chance of rain before 10 a.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 54. Breezy. The chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 27. Breezy.
