Lake Hiawatha Library Reopened After Weeks Of Repairs

After weeks of repairs, the library branch has reopened. See operation hours here:

PARSIPPANY, NJ — After weeks of repairs, the Lake Hiawatha Library has finally reopened.

The library has been closed for weeks due to its air conditioning system failing, in the peak summer season, no less.

With several heat advisories issued over the last few weeks, library officials determined that it was unsafe for staff and patrons to be in the building with no air conditioning.

“Due to the recent stretch of extreme heat, the Lake Hiawatha Branch Library is temporarily closed as we begin preparations to install a brand-new air conditioning system,” said Melissa Kuzma, Parsippany Library Director. “The current AC unit is no longer operational, leading to unsafe indoor temperatures for both patrons and staff.”

Limited hours have been made available since July 16.
