Man Who Robbed Morris Co. Best Buy Sent To Prison: Officials
Officials said the man threatened a loss prevention employee and another person with a knife, after stealing $4,500 in items from the store.
EAST HANOVER, NJ — A man who threatened a Morris County Best Buy employee with a knife while stealing $4,500 worth of Apple products has been sentenced to prison, officials said.
In March, a jury found Michael Guirguis, 39, guilty of first-degree robbery, third-degree shoplifting, and weapons charges in connection with the incident. The Jersey City resident was sentenced to 28 years in prison this week, said Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll's office.
Officials said the robbery took place on May 28, 2022 at the Best Buy on Route 10 in East Hanover. According to prosecutors, Guirguis walked in to the store and removed $4,500 worth of iPads and iPhones from a display table.

As he went to leave the store, officials said he threatened an asset protection employee with a knife and also brandished the weapon at a second person after leaving Best Buy.
Prosecutors said police were called to the store, and found Guirguis in the parking lot still holding the knife and stolen items. He "did not respond to lawful orders" and police arrested him by force, officials said.
