Morris County Embraces Rich History, Honors Fallen Soldiers For Memorial Day

Towns across the county celebrated the bravery of soldiers who fought for our country with parades and ceremonies.

MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — Several communities came together this weekend to remember the fallen for Memorial Day and embrace the rich history of Morris County, which is rooted all the way to the American Revolution, according to a report from TAPinto Parsippany.

Citizens young and old, as well as town officials, showed up in numbers this week to honor the sacrifices these men and the many soldiers after them had made for the country.

Morris County is often considered the “military capital of the American Revolution," where waves of military companies, encampments, and more could be seen, TAPinto reported.

In Parsippany, the annual Memorial Day ceremony was once again a successful turnout, according to Parsippany Focus. The ceremony consisted of several speakers, including Mayor James R. Barberio and Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill’s aide Alexandra Cerasiello, both of whom delivered remarks of honor and gratitude.

Morris Plains was also able to enjoy the nice weather and honor the fallen during its parade and service this Memorial Day, a MorristownGreen report said. Several organizations marched in the parade, including Morris Plains VFW Watnong Post #3401.
