More Than 10K Without Power In Morris Co. As High Winds Whip NJ Monday
Morris County remains under a wind advisory, with gusts up to 50 miles per hour possible.

MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — High winds knocked out power for thousands in Morris County on Monday, with gusts of 50 miles per hour or more expected in the area.
As of 4:20 p.m., just over 10,000 Jersey City Power & Light households in Morris County don't have power, according to First Energy's outage map.

This includes almost 2,500 in Parsippany, about 1,150 in Denville, close to 1,200 in Harding Township, more than 1,860 in Rockaway Township, and about 1,680 in Washington Township.
There is no estimated restoration time yet, per JCP&L. Earlier in the afternoon, upwards of 27,000 people were listed as without power when Patch checked.

The National Weather Service placed Morris County under a wind advisory until 8 p.m. Monday night.
“Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles,” forecasters said. “Use extra caution. Secure outdoor objects.”
Gusty winds have already created traffic problems in Mendham Township and Chester with downed trees and poles, police said.
Due to saturated grounds from recent rain accumulation and thawed ground from a mild winter, tree damage may be greater than usual with the same wind speeds, AccuWeather said.
More than half the Garden State is under a wind advisory Monday as winds up to 55 mph are expected to whip through, adding to the downed trees and power outages already plaguing residents.
