MORRIS PLAINS, NJ — While New Yorkers like to claim the world's best bagels, many New Jerseyans would say otherwise. And plenty of bagel establishments, including at least one in the Parsippany area, help the Garden State's case.

In honor of National Bagel Day, which occurred Sunday, NJ.com ranked the 44 best bagel shops in New Jersey, with one local establishment making the cut, highlighting that no one beats New Jersey when it comes to bagels.

Time for a Bagel (680 Speedwell Ave., Morris Plains) ranked 27th on the list, and locals don't disagree.

"I've eaten bagels all over NYC and have yet to find one that's better than TFAB," another commenter said.

NJ.com food writer Jeremy Schneider praised the shop's wheat bagel with garden vegetable cream cheese.

Time for a Bagel has been serving fresh, hand-rolled bagels since 1996 and offers 23 different types of bagels and 20 different spreads, including fun flavors like Horseradish and Olive Pimento.

The second choice option for many readers was Morristown Bagel and Deli, which is located at 121 Morris Street.

"Currently, hands down, the best bagels can be gotten from Morristown Bagel and Deli. From the 'quirky' counter guys to the great variety of choices, these bagels are plump, tasty and about as authentic as you can get," Don G. from Morristown said.
