Parsippany Biz Owner, Decorated WWII Vet Dies At 100

Ed Zelichowski moved to Lake Hiawatha in 1959.

PARSIPPANY, N.J. – Ed Zelichowski was a feisty, remarkable man.

The decorated World War II veteran died this week at the age of 100.

Born May 14, 1915, Zelichowski was drafted into the Army at the age of 26 where he became a Staff Sergeant during World War II. He was injured during the Normandy Invasion in France and received a Purple Heart. He also received Silver and Bronze Stars for his service.

He married in 1946 and had two children, then opened his first business in Lake Hiawatha in 1953, the Kozy Korner. He moved his family to the area in 1959 and later opened the Kozy Diner in the mid 1960s.

Zelichowski’s marriage to his wife Sylvia lasted 58 years.
