Parsippany Comedian To Showcase Skills On ‘America’s Got Talent’

PARSIPPANY, NJ — A local comedian will be taking the stage at one of the most high-profile talent shows in the nation.

Maureen Langan, who grew up in Lake Hiawatha, will be performing on the NBC series "America's Got Talent."

Langan confirmed her presence on the show on her social media, stating that she had auditioned for the show and now audiences just had to "see what happens."

The 18th season of "America's Got Talent" returns with a new group of aspiring performers vying for the grand prize of $1 million.

Simon Cowell, the executive producer, returns to the judging panel alongside Heidi Klum, comedian Howie Mandel, and actress Sofia Vergara.

The season premiered on May 30, with the first few episodes centered on auditions, and will then begin six weeks of live shows at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium on Tuesday, Aug. 22.

Langan, whose audition will take place in the coming weeks, is an award-winning broadcaster, international standup comedian, TEDx Talk speaker, and corporate and event host. She has appeared on Broadway with Rosie O'Donnell and has shared the stage with Robin Williams, Steven Wright, Joy Behar, Gladys Knight and Jordin Sparks.

"Daughter of a Garbageman," Langan's critically acclaimed solo show, was hailed as a "one-woman tour de force" when it made its U.S. debut in San Francisco.

Langan began her career in comedy after working as a broadcaster for Bloomberg TV and Radio, where she provided commentary, interviewed celebrities, and satirized world news.

Season 18 of "America's Got Talent" airs on NBC on Tuesdays at 8 p.m.
