PARSIPPANY, NJ — After an initial successful run on NBC's America's Got Talent, Maureen Langan of Parsippany ultimately did not receive enough votes to proceed into the finals last week.

The local comedian appeared last Wednesday night for the live semifinal results show.

Langan, who grew up in Lake Hiawatha, was a favorite of judge and well-known comic, Howie Mandel, who praised Langan's performance, saying she had the arsenal that a great comedian needs and that she was "ready to explode."

During the Aug. 23 episode, Langan performed a stand-up comedy routine about being stereotyped as a middle-aged woman. Mandel gave her a standing ovation, but she did not receive enough votes to make the Top 5 of the night, effectively eliminating her from the competition.

"You're professional; you're consistent. I also think that this is a big family show, and I've been married for a long time, and I think you did land big jokes for women out there that kind of understand and relate to you. Your closing joke for me was big and was your special place, which is also my special place too," Mandel said.

Langan's first performance back in June, which revolved around her catchphrase, "I don’t want to hate people; they make me hate them," impressed all four judges, earning her four "yes" votes from judges Mandel, Heidi Klum, Sofia Vergara, and Simon Cowell.

Langan is an award-winning broadcaster, international standup comedian, TEDx Talk speaker, and corporate and event host. She has appeared on Broadway with Rosie O'Donnell and has shared the stage with Robin Williams, Steven Wright, Joy Behar, Gladys Knight and Jordin Sparks.
