Parsippany Cop Retires After 2 Decades Of Service To Town

Last week, Patrolman Robert Smolen walked out of headquarters for the last time, marking the end of more than 20 years of service.

PARSIPPANY, NJ — A longtime Parsippany police officer recently got a fond retirement send-off from his peers, family and friends at a “walkout” ceremony.

Patrolman Robert Smolen received a proper farewell at a ceremony held at police headquarters earlier this month. Smolen has served his community as a member of law enforcement for more than 20 years.

Smolen, who also served as a Field Training Officer in Parsippany, was recognized by department members and Mayor James Barberio, who thanked him for his years of dedicated service.

Throughout his tenure in Parsippany, Smolen received two Life Saving Awards, a Unit Commendation and an Exceptional Duty Award.
