Parsippany Friends of the Library Fund Free Passes to the Met

Take the entire family for a visit!

Plan your next free trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City courtesy of the Parsippany Friends of the Library. For a perfect summer excursion, the Met offers the opportunity to “travel around the world and across 5,000 years of history through 490,000+ works of art.”

Visitors can enjoy many of the world-renowned works in the museum’s vast collection including: Washington Crossing the Delaware by Emanuel Leutze and Madame X by John Singer Sargent.

Sculptures and objects include The Temple of Dendur, an ancient Egyptian temple, and the Greek and Roman Sculpture Court. Another area of interest is the Asian wing, with its comprehensive collection of Cambodian, Indian, and Chinese art. In fact, the museum offers a number of free tours, including one focusing on Asian art.

One pass covers two adult visitors (children under 12 are free). You can reserve online by going to the library website (www.parsippanylibrary.org), clicking on “Borrow” then “Museum Passes.” A calendar will give you dates when you can reserve a pass. Patrons will have one day to pick up, one day to use, and one day to return the pass. Passes are available at all three branches of the library, Main, Lake Hiawatha and Mt. Tabor.

The Friends of the Library are delighted to provide this free opportunity to see one of the world’s most famous museums. Book sales and other events provide the funding for many of the programs and benefits our community members enjoy at all branches of the library.
