The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics noted the food index increased 10.9% over last year, as of October 2022. Food at home (groceries) rose 12.4%, while food from restaurants rose by 8.6%, on an unadjusted 12-month basis.

Below is a quick comparison of online prices at local stores. If you’re looking for the best prices locally on basic items based on this search, Walmart turns out to be the least expensive. But, since Boonton Walmart has limited groceries, you have to go elsewhere for produce and fresh meat. In italics are the winners this week of November 13 for least expensive in these random categories.
