Parsippany, N.J. – You gotta catch ‘em all, but please, be safe.

That’s the message being relayed by Parsippany Police this week as Pokemon Go fever is sweeping the nation.

“If you’re going to search for Pokemon please use caution,” the Parsippany Police Department wrote on its Facebook page Thursday morning. “Look up and pay attention to your surroundings. Walking into a fixed object, body of water, or traffic can cause injuries.”

Police then posted these tips:

  • Operating a cell phone while driving is illegal. So leave the Pokémon hunting to your passengers.
  • If you find a Pokémon on private property do not enter the property unless given permission.
  • If you find a Pokémon, Pokéstop, or gym in a park in Parsippany, please remember they close 30 minutes after sundown and reopen 30 minutes before sunrise. Do not enter the park when it’s closed.
  • If any Pokémon, Pokéstops or gyms appear at Parsippany Police Headquarters the rear of the building is not accessible to the public so please do not walk or drive through the area. Signs are posted.
