Parsippany Student Named U.S. Presidential Scholar

Shagun Vashisth among 150 honorees across the country.

PARSIPPANY, N.J. – Shagun Vashisth is among the best students in the country, and the federal department of education has recognized her for it.

Vashisth, of Parsippany and a student at Morris Hills High School, was named among the 150 scholars nationwide in the U.S. Presidential Scholars Program for 2016.

Vashisth joined two other New Jersey students on the national list.

The U.S. Presidential Scholars Program was established in 1964, the Department of Education said.

Applicants need to “score exceptionally well” on either the SAT or ACT exams and be nominated by the Chief State School Officer, according to DOE guidelines.
