How Much Snow, Ice Will Parsippany Get During Thursday Storm? See The Forecast

PARSIPPANY, NJ — Forecasters expect a mix of wintery precipitation in the Parsippany area when a storm hits Thursday night. The wet weather could bring 1-3 inches of snow and ice accumulation of up to a third of an inch, according to the National Weather Service.

The agency issued a winter storm watch in the area from 7 p.m. Thursday to 1 p.m. Friday. The Friday morning commute window will see the greatest storm impacts, according to the National Weather Service.

The snowfall projections become higher in the northernmost parts of the state, with 4-6 inches projected in the Sussex County area. Here are the National Weather Service's snowfall and ice projections as of Wednesday afternoon:

A few power outages and instances of tree damage may occur because of the ice, according to the winter storm watch.

Here's the National Weather Service's forecast for Parsippany as of 4 p.m. Wednesday:

• Thursday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 38. North wind around 5 mph becoming east in the afternoon.
• Thursday night: Rain and snow before 3 a.m., then snow and sleet between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m., then sleet after 4 a.m. Low around 28. East wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. New snow and sleet accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.
• Friday: Rain, freezing rain, and sleet before 1 p.m., then a chance of rain, snow, and sleet between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m., then a chance of rain after 2 p.m. High near 39. East wind 5 to 15 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. New ice accumulation of less than a 0.1 of an inch possible. New snow and sleet accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
• Friday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 19. Northwest wind 10 to 15 mph.
• Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 35.
