Hearing Gunfire Or Helicopters In Parsippany? Here’s What’s Happening
Police have warned residents that they may hear simulated gunfire and helicopters during training exercises scheduled for this week.
PARSIPPANY, NJ — Don’t be alarmed if you hear gunfire or helicopters overhead in Parsippany this week — officials say it’s just part of a police training exercise.
The Parsippany-Troy Hills Police Department issued a warning to residents, advising them that they may hear blank gunfire, booms, or see helicopters as the Department of Defense conducts training in the area.
The training event will take place for one night between today and Saturday, from 6 p.m. to 3 a.m.

The location of the training event remains undisclosed for safety reasons; however, police noted that the selected area is far from residential neighborhoods and was chosen to minimize disruption.
"Don’t be alarmed, this is a planned exercise," said Parsippany Police.
