Another Sinkhole Closes 2 Lanes — This Time On Route 287
Multiple lanes are closed after the newest sinkhole opened in Morris County, New Jersey transportation officials said.

MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — A sinkhole opened on Interstate 287 in Parsippany-Troy Hills on Friday afternoon, prompting multiple lane closures, according to the New Jersey Department of Transportation.
In an alert posted at 4:50 p.m., the agency said the sinkhole was located in the northbound lanes north of Exit 41. The two left lanes are currently closed.
The sinkhole was located on the left shoulder just before Route 46 and north of Interstate 80.

The newest sinkhole is the latest to plague New Jersey motorists. Route 80 westbound remains closed and detoured at Exit 34B in Wharton until further notice as crews work to stabilize two additional sinkholes.
The original void opened on Feb. 10, while the second formed in late February as crews worked to repair the original sinkhole.

NJDOT released a new website specifically for updates on Route 80.
"As we assess the impacts of this new sinkhole on I-80, we will continue to work around the clock so that New Jersey commuters and families get their lives back on track,” Gov. Phil Murphy said in a statement on Friday.
