PARSIPPANY, NJ — Although it was not as much as North Jersey saw last weekend, the Parsippany area did get enough snow on Monday night to cause schools to close down on Tuesday.

The National Weather Service (NWS) projected 3 to 6 inches of snow to fall in and around Morris County from Monday night through Tuesday.

As of Tuesday at 1 p.m., NWS reported Long Valley and Rockaway tallied the highest snowfall in Morris County with two inches. The Parsippany area received around 1.3 inches of snow, according to the NWS.

During last week's snowstorm, Green Pond, a private lakeside residential unincorporated community within Rockaway Township, logged the highest in the county with 8.1 inches. Lake Hopatcong came in next with 7.7 inches of snow reported.

Temperatures for the rest of the week remain cold and there is a chance for snow on Thursday and Friday:

This Afternoon: Snow, mainly before 3 p.m. High near 32. Northwest wind around 10 mph. The chance of precipitation is 80 percent. Total daytime snow accumulation of around an inch possible.

Tonight: Mostly cloudy during the early evening, then gradual clearing, with a low around 12. Northwest wind 10 to 15 mph.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 25. West wind 10 to 15 mph.

Wednesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 17. West wind around 10 mph.

Thursday: A slight chance of snow after 1 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 31. West wind 10 to 15 mph. The chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

Thursday Night: A chance of snow, mainly after 1 a.m. Cloudy, with a low around 23. The chance of precipitation is 30 percent.

Friday: Snow likely. Cloudy, with a high near 30. The chance of precipitation is 60 percent.

Friday Night: A chance of snow before 1 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 15. The chance of precipitation is 40 percent.
