Thunderstorms Could Begin Wet Week In North Jersey
Forecasters expect a couple of rainy days ahead in North Jersey. Here's what to expect.
NORTH JERSEY — Weather officials expect this week to get off to a rainy start, with thunderstorms in North Jersey's forecast.
The National Weather Service anticipates showers and thunderstorms throughout Monday. Forecasters project a chance of thunderstorms between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Monday, with rainfall totaling a tenth to a quarter of an inch during the day.
Another thunderstorm may arrive Monday night, with showers probable. The chance of precipitation is 70 percent in the region, with a quarter- to a half-inch of rain possible in parts of North Jersey.

There's a chance that showers continue Tuesday. But the National Weather Service believes there's only a 30 percent chance of rain during the day and a 20 percent chance at night for much of North Jersey.
A patchy drizzle could hit northwestern New Jersey early Wednesday, with patchy fog continuing into Friday, according to the National Weather Service. Forecasters expect northeast New Jersey to clear up by Wednesday.

The National Weather Service has not included flooding in the forecasts for any of the upcoming storms as of Monday morning.
Here's the forecast for the Newark Liberty International Airport as of Monday morning:

- Monday: A chance of showers before 10am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 10am and 1pm, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 1pm. Patchy fog before 10am. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 75. Calm wind becoming northeast around 6 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
- Monday night: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm. Cloudy, with a low around 62. Northeast wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
- Tuesday: A 30 percent chance of showers, mainly before 3pm. Cloudy, with a high near 69. Northeast wind around 8 mph.
- Tuesday night: A 20 percent chance of showers before 9pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 60. Northeast wind around 7 mph.
- Wednesday: Partly sunny, with a high near 72. Northeast wind around 6 mph.

- Monday: A chance of showers, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after noon. Patchy fog before noon. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 71. Calm wind becoming east around 5 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
