Watch Parsippany’s Mayor Shred Guitar At Rock School’s Grand Opening

Mayor James Barberio took to the stage Sunday, not to make a political speech, but to rock out with some local talent.

PARSIPPANY, NJ — Parsippany Mayor James Barberio took the stage this weekend, not to address mayoral points, but to shred some classic rock with some young rock n’ rollers.

This Sunday, the Parsippany School of Rock held its grand opening event. The school, located at 200 US-46, offers young aspiring musicians one-on-one, weekly lessons on guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, vocals, and/or songwriting. The students can also take part in group rehearsals, and eventually in live performances at real venues.

Sunday’s event featured live music from students, instructors, and apparently a local politician.

“This was truly an incredible experience,” Barberio said during the ceremony. “You have such talented students here! The atmosphere you’ve created here will undoubtedly yield some remarkable musicians. Wishing you all the best, and I hope I can return for another jam session in the future!”

Parsippany’s School of Rock is owned by lifetime music-lover and long-time musician Robert Corbi, who was “inspired by the power of music to connect and uplift communities.”

Corbi began playing guitar at a young age, motivated by the music of The Beatles, The Beach Boys, and other titans of the industry. Now more than ever, as a father of two, he sees the importance of “exposing kids to art, music, and creative learning environments early in life.”
