Where Kids Under 5 Can Get The COVID Vaccine Around Parsippany

PARSIPPANY, NJ — The day many parents of young children have waited for is here: COVID vaccines for kids as young as 6 months old are now available. But it hasn't been so easy to secure appointments, as many of the limited facilities offering them are already booked.

But there are several locations within driving distance of Parsippany that offer the pediatric vaccines. And at the very least, parents hoping to get their children fully vaccinated by the next school year can get on a waitlist.

Last week, federal officials approved Pfizer's vaccine for children 6 months through 4 years old and Moderna's for kids 6 months through 5 years old. Children younger than 5 can receive a three-dose regimen of the Pfizer vaccine or two shots of Moderna's.

While it's less common for young children to get hospitalized or die from COVID than it is for older age groups, about 1 in 3 children younger than 18 hospitalized with the virus have no underlying conditions, according to the CDC.

Parents with questions about the pediatric vaccines should talk to their child's pediatrician or health care provider, state officials said.
