Where To Pick Apples Around Parsippany: 2025 Guide

PARSIPPANY, NJ — Fall doesn’t officially start until the autumnal equinox on Monday, Sept. 22, but the season is already underway at Parsippany’s nearby apple orchards.

There are plenty of activities at these fall attractions to appeal to all ages, especially kids.

Patch has compiled a list of some of the best apple orchards and family-friendly fall attractions around Parsippany. Before you go, be sure to call ahead or check the orchard’s website to clarify hours of operation or to check for the availability of apples.

Wightman Farms (Morristown)

• Address: 1111 Mt Kemble Ave, Morristown
• Season dates: mid-July through late November
• Details: PYO fields, corn hole, hula hooping, corn maze, farming demonstrations and more available.
• Hours: Weekend, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (last entry at 4:30 p.m.)
• Cost: $30 entry, apples are $3.39 per pound

Ort Farms (Long Valley)

• Address: 25 Bartley Rd, Long Valley
• Season dates: Sept. 6 to Oct. 1. (pumpkin picking Sept. 27 - Nov. 3)
• Details: PYO fields, access to farm animals and children's playsets, sunflower trail, hayride, and more available.
• Hours: Open daily, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Hacklebarney Farm Cider Mill (Chester)

• Address: 104 State Park Rd, Chester Township
• Season dates: Labor Day Weekend through Dec. 23
• Details: Apple Picking, Farmer’s Market, Corn Maze, Apple Cider Demonstrations, and more activities available.
• Hours: Thursday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• Cost: Prices vary depending on activities (No entry fee for apple picking Sept. 13)

Alstede Farms (Chester)

• Season dates: Apple Picking Season is Early August to Early November
• Details: Pick Your Own Fruit/Vegetable, Hard Cider Tent, Animal Feeding, Farmer’s Market, Live Music, and more.
• Hours: Weekdays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Weekends, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

This should be a good year for apple picking, according to the 2025 forecast from the U.S. Apple Association, which estimates the harvest will be 6 percent higher than in 2024, for a total of 273 million bushels.

That estimate is based on USDA data from the top seven apple-producing states — respectively, Washington, New York, Michigan, Pennsylvania, California, Oregon and Virginia. When other states are considered, total production could be as much as 290 million bushels, the industry trade group said.
