2 Injured As Corvette Hits Pole On Route 88 In Point Pleasant
The passenger was taken to the hospital in serious condition and the driver was taken as a precaution, police said.
POINT PLEASANT, NJ — Two people were injured Sunday evening when a Corvette ran off Route 88 and hit a utility pole near the Idle Hour restaurant, Point Pleasant police said Monday.
The driver and the passenger in the Corvette, both in their 40s, were taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune after the crash, which happened about 9:25 p.m., Capt. Christopher Leonhardt said.
The driver was taken as a precaution but the passenger was in serious but stable condition, he said. Neither person was identified.

Leonhardt said police received multiple 911 calls about the crash. The Corvette was headed west on Route 88 when it veered off the road and hit one of the utility poles at the intersection with Barton Avenue, he said.
It resulted in Route 88 being closed between River Avenue and Curtis Avenue for about four hours for the crash investigation, according to alerts sent late Sunday.

The crash remains under investigation and summonses may be issued, pending the outcome of the investigation, Leonhardt said.
The Point Pleasant First Aid Squad, Point Pleasant Beach First Aid Squad, Point Pleasant Fire Department, Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, and Ocean County Sheriff’s Department Crime Scene Investigation Unit provided assistance at the scene.
